The Problem

RCS was obtained to provide evaluation services in conjunction with Saccoccio & Associates Architects for the replacement of a Rhode Island school. The existing roof was comprised of twelve  roof areas / approximately 43,367 square feet. It was the schools assumption that all of the roof areas were in need of immediate replacement.

The Results

RCS identified four roof sections that only needed minor repairs to remain viable, with total repair costs estimated at $590.00 for these areas. Without the preemptive evaluation and infrared, the school system would have spent in excess of $140,000 to replace these areas, years before the current systems service life had expired.

The Solution

The building owner was able to complete the necessary replacements and repair which areas were still serviceable, allowing the school system an additional 5-7 years to preemptively plan and budget for the replacement of the remaining roof sections.
