In February of 2009, RCS was contracted by Kimco Realty to perform roof condition evaluations on over 100 retail shopping centers totaling over 15 million square feet of roof area which were located throughout the Southeastern United States. We used our proven approach of crews traveling between projects within a geographic location to perform the required field investigation then sending the documentation to our home office for development of detailed database reports and AutoCAD roof plans. These initial inspections were completed in approximately 4 months.
Since completing the initial roof surveys we have completed additional roof inspections on Kimco’s entire portfolio of properties as well as all new properties acquired totaling over 820 shopping centers and 112 million square feet of roof area throughout the continental United States. We are now inspecting all of their properties on a rotating 4 year interval per geographic region and assisting the property managers with obtaining bids for roof system repairs on the majority of their properties.
In addition to providing inspection services, we have also provided bid assistance for approximately 190 projects encompassing over 5,000,000 square feet of roof system replacement and approximately 25 million dollars in roof replacement cost.
