In December of 2009, RCS was requested to provide assistance with the roof replacement design of a portion of the Rawls Byrd Elementary School for the Williamsburg – James City County Public School system. RCS completed verification of the existing as-built conditions and the contract drawings were developed within four (4) weeks so that the Owner could advertise the projects in February of 2010 and a contract could be awarded prior to the release of school.
The Rawls Byrd project included three buildings which totaled 33,793 square feet in size. The existing buildings are round structures with conical shaped roofs which were covered with asphalt compositions shingles. The standing seam metal roof replacement system was designed to include new underlayments, attic insulation and a twenty year, watertight guarantee.The project has been bid will be completed the summer of 2010.
