We have performed non-destructive roof moisture surveys, comprehensive visual condition evaluations and on-site quality control full time inspection services on numerous projects for the Virginia Department of Corrections since 1982. We estimate that we have inspected over seven million (7,000,000) square feet of roof area at high, medium and low level security correctional institutions throughout the State of Virginia. Under the Department of Corrections “Corrections Construction Unit”, we have overseen inmate labor for the installation of various types of roof systems including Standing Seam Metal, Asphalt BUR and Single Ply EPDM.
In 2003, we performed non-destructive moisture surveys on over 85 buildings (1,306,000 Square Feet) and with the information gathered, developed a Roof Management Database to be utilized by the Department of Corrections for long term planning, roof maintenance scheduling and life cycle costing. We are currently performing visual roof inspections on numerous facilities throughout the State of Virginia for DOC with their intention of having all buildings inspected by RCS over the next 18-24 months.
