RCS serves W.W. Grainger’s as their primary roofing consultant, performing preventative maintenance inspections on a recurring basis, and overseeing all repair and / or replacement work needed at their commercial facilities on a national basis.
During 2024 RCS was asked to develop technical specifications and construction drawings for the replacement of one of their primary distribution facilities, KCDC, located in Kansas City MO. KCDC is approximately 1.27 million square feet, and at the time of concept was reported by roofing manufacturers to be the largest single building roof replacement scheduled within the United States for 2024.
Upon bidding, the roof replacement was deferred for completion in 2026. In January 2026, RCS proceeded with redevelopment of the project specifications for Q2 2026 bidding.
During this redevelopment process, RCS was able to suggest value engineering options that mitigated the necessity to tear off the existing roofing to structural decking and ultimately realize and approximate $3M cost savings for the Owner.
